NearHelper ("we", "us") operates a marketplace that connects clients with independent local service providers ("pros"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and apps, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information we collect
You provide
- Account & profile: name, phone number, and optionally email.
- Service details: the service address, booking details, pet profiles, and notes you enter.
- Payments: card payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.
- Communications: in-app messages, reviews, and support requests.
Collected automatically
- Location: with permission, to show nearby availability, verify arrival, and (for pros, during a job) share live location.
- Photos: with permission, to attach job-completion photos.
- Device & notifications: push token and basic device info to operate the service.
2. How we use information
- To provide the service — matching, dispatch, scheduling.
- To process payments, payouts, refunds, and applicable taxes.
- To send transactional notifications (booking status, arrival, messages).
- For safety, fraud prevention, and legal compliance (including Canadian tax reporting).
3. How we share information
- Between client and pro: what's needed to complete a booking.
- Service providers: Stripe (payments), Twilio (SMS), Expo (push), Google Maps (mapping).
- Legal & safety: when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Retention
We keep information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Some records (bookings, payouts, tax documents) are retained for accounting and legal compliance after deletion, anonymized where possible.
5. Deleting your account
You can delete your account anytime from the app or website. We remove your personal profile information and block sign-in; transactional records are retained against an anonymized record. Contact privacy@nearhelper.com for help.
6. Your choices
- Control location, camera, and notification permissions in your settings.
- Access, correct, or delete your information by contacting us.
7. Security
We use encrypted connections and tokenized payments. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.
8. Children
NearHelper is not directed to children under 16.
9. Changes
We may update this policy and will revise the date above.
